Help us select October’s “On The Rise” partner

On The Rise is a monthly program where we introduce four YouTube partners whose channels drive significant watch time but haven’t yet reached the 100,000 subscriber mark. Thanks to your help, we’ve identified four channels this month who are getting close to crossing that threshold. Our October nominees create engaging videos about their hobbies, which include origami, auto repairs, fishing, and extreme sports.

You can help these partners get even closer to reaching that 100,000 subscriber milestone. Check out their videos below, vote for your favorite here, and one of these candidates will have the opportunity to be featured across YouTube later this month. In addition to your votes, each channel will be evaluated on criteria such as viewer engagement and channel optimization techniques to decide which partner we’ll feature.

In past months, featured On The Rise partners like StanWinstonSchool and CookingAndCrafting have gained subscribers and seen their watch time grow due in large part to your support. This month’s poll will be open until October 10, 5 p.m. PT, so don’t forget to vote for your favorite channel. Check back to see which channel will be featured on October 30.

"I started vlogging in 2006 and as I was vlogging, I would sometimes make a craft while chatting, or take my subscribers into the kitchen with me when making dinner. About three years ago, my sister and I decided that we would open a channel focusing on fast and easy cooking, baking and crafting, sometimes mixing in a little bit of humor and island flavors. I am amazed at how many incredible people from all over the world that I get to meet on a daily basis. I am so thankful to my awesome subscribers and friends who constantly support me through all of my endeavors. You.are.the.best!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. <3"

MathMeeting is “On The Rise” this month

Congratulations to Chris Seber of MathMeeting, our featured On The Rise partner this July. You’ll see his channel and videos in the spotlight on the On The Rise homepage and the YouTube Spotlight channel today.

School is out for many of us in July, but that doesn’t mean you can’t brush up on the basics. With just under 200 videos on his mathematics-focused channel, Chris may just be the man to help. He’s run this YouTube channel since December 2010, posting tutorials to help mathematicians at every level expand their skill set. Whether you want a refresher on how to multiply fractions or factor trinomials, Chris has videos that can walk you through each step. He might even be able to help you solve that Rubik’s cube you’ve been working on. Math students and teachers alike will appreciate the clear visuals and steady pace that Chris has developed in these videos.

Here are a few words directly from Chris:

My passion is to help as many students AND teachers as possible in the subject of mathematics. I do this by making free videos here on YouTube ranging from basic level math through upper level calculus. I do not expect everybody to fall in love with mathematics, but I wholeheartedly believe that everybody enjoys learning when it is taught in a simple, easy-to-follow manner. My simple approach to teaching has received such positive, uplifting reactions from my audience. Your comments and votes have helped me become featured as an “On The Rise” featured partner for the month of July. This is such a humbling achievement that I am most proud of. I will continue making videos to assist you in your mathematical struggles for as long as possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Congratulations to starofmay, our On The Rise featured partner for June

Congratulations to Kristina Werner, our featured “On The Rise” partner for June 2013. Her channel, starofmay, is featured today on the YouTube Spotlight channel as well as our On The Rise homepage.

With a background in graphic design, Kristina has always had an eye for aesthetics. Her channel hosts more than 500 videos dedicated to cardmaking and multimedia craft projects. Kristina’s videos contain eye-catching and easy-to-follow instructions as she teaches viewers the nuance in homemade card design. You can learn how to create a card using leftover ribbons and scraps or how different crafting tools and supplies compare. Love the idea of handcrafted cards, but worried that your chicken scratch might make it turn out like a doctor’s prescription pad? Fear not--Kristina even has videos that will help make your handwriting worthy of the elegant cards you create. Learn more about Kristina’s channel and watch some of her other favorite videos below.

And here are some words from Kristina directly:
The very first video I posted on YouTube was a knot-tying video way back in October 2007, which was later re-uploaded with different audio. (Be nice!) Who knew where that would lead to six years later! To this day I think video is the best way to teach and share the cardmaking process, and YouTube has allowed me and thousands of other papercrafters the opportunity to share our love of cardmaking with people all over the world! We crafters are a friendly and creative bunch, and I'm so happy to share cardmaking with even more people. I want to thank each and every one of my subscribers for their support. You guys are awesome!

Congratulations to Sunshine of hauntedsunshinegirl, our featured “On The Rise” partner for May 2013. You can find Sunshine’s channel and videos in the spotlight across YouTube today, including on our new On The Rise homepage.

Sunshine began documenting paranormal activity several years ago, when she and her mother moved into a “haunted” house. Sunshine’s channel has evolved from simply exposing the spooky apparitions who haunt her home: she’s even recorded a real-life paranormal investigation into the situation. Sunshine also produced a feature film to illustrate her own exploration to find and understand “Black Eyed Kids.” This channel follows more of a storyline than many YouTube channels, so be prepared to get caught up in the mysterious activity at Sunshine’s house.

Here are a few words directly from Sunshine:
Huge thanks to everyone who voted for me for On the Rise! I am so honored and excited to be a part of this amazing group of YouTubers that have been featured in the past. YouTube is such a huge part of my life and I love that more viewers will get to see the videos I work so hard to make! If you are not familiar with my channel, it might be slightly different than what you are used to. I have hundreds of mostly creepy, often hilarious videos about the paranormal world. But that’s not all ... I even have some zombie videos!

I would first like to acknowledge and thank my subscribers and everyone who voted for me. I truly enjoy creating these recipes and sharing with you. I take a lot of pride in my work through Manjula's Kitchen. I often spend a lot of time perfecting each recipe. You, the viewers, have given me so much love and encouragement over the years. Your feedback and enthusiasm for Manjula's Kitchen is invaluable. It has really given me the motivation and desire to continue coming up with creative and new recipes to share with you. YouTube has given me a wonderful platform to promote my passion and love for cooking.

Meet Your March 2013 “On The Rise” Nominees

In our monthly On The Rise program, we identify four partners whose channels are seeing significant growth but haven’t yet reached the 100,000 subscriber mark. Your suggestions helped us identify four dedicated partners who are well over halfway to that milestone, and you get the opportunity to help them grow even further. This March, our On The Rise nominees have established themselves and built loyal fan bases who support their music, video effects, comedy, vlogs, and group sketches.

Here’s where you come in--you actually have the chance to help push these partners even further on YouTube. Review their videos below, vote for your favorite here, and one of these candidates will have the opportunity to be featured across YouTube later this month. In addition to your votes, each channel will be evaluated on criteria such as viewer engagement and channel optimization techniques to decide which partner we’ll feature.

In past months, featured On The Rise partners like DevinandErica and MyCupcakeAddiction have gained many subscribers and seen their careers take off, in large part due to your support. This month’s poll will be open until March 19, 5 p.m. PT, so don’t forget to vote for your favorite channel. Check back to see which channel will be featured on March 27.

DevinandErica Are Your February Featured Rising Partner!

Congratulations to Devin and Erica, whose YouTube channel DevinandErica is our featured “On The Rise” partner this February. These loving parents have documented their family’s development, creativity and silliness on YouTube for more than three years, and today they’re featured on the YouTube Spotlight channel.

This channel was born when Erica was pregnant with the couple’s eldest daughter, whom they affectionately refer to as "Baby Bug." Their "reality show" on YouTube has grown to include a variety of content ranging from vlogs to homemade skits to original songs, and this fun-loving family has developed a dedicated following. In fact, support from their viewers helped them with the expense of a second IVF cycle, and Devin, Erica and Bug welcomed baby "DudeL" about six months ago. After more than three years and 300 videos on YouTube, Devin and Erica have amassed a library of heartwarming moments--get to know their family with channel classics like the ABCs "Baby Jam" and Devin’s baby proposal, and then check out some of the other fun videos from the playlist linked in the video below.

Here are a few words directly from Devin:

Our January featured On The Rise partner is MyCupcakeAddiction!

Congratulations to Elise Strachan, the master chef for this month’s "On The Rise” featured partner channel, MyCupcakeAddiction. Not only is her channel the first featured in 2013, but it’s also the first Australian channel we’ve featured in the program, and Elise was recently appointed as one of the 15 Next How-To Gurus! MyCupcakeAddiction hosts tutorials on how to decorate and make cupcakes, cake pops and other sweet treats, and is in the spotlight on YouTube’s own channel today. Check it out to see some of Elise’s delicious creations!

Elise’s kitchen is based in Queensland, Australia, where she’s been cooking up sweet treats for several years. She often bakes for private events and weddings, on top of selling her cupcakes at a local market twice a week. In October 2011, she decided to expand beyond her Gold Coast clientele by producing videos on YouTube to inspire bakers worldwide. Now, no matter where you live, you can find do-it-yourself tips and tutorials for fun creations like Elise’s Angry Birds cake pops, stiletto heel cupcakes, or even a giant cupcake pinata!

Here are a few words from Elise:
This is an exciting accolade for our little channel, and a huge thank you goes out to the best subscribers in the world for your votes and support throughout voting week. We aim to provide high quality, step-by-step instructional videos showing you how to create the weird and wonderful out of cupcakes and cakepops. Who do YOU think is “On The Rise?” Nominate YouTube partners for the program in 2013!

By now, many of you may be familiar with the monthly On The Rise program, where we identify four YouTube partners whose subscriber numbers are growing but haven’t yet reached 100,000. You get the opportunity to vote for your favorite, each channel is evaluated on criteria such as viewer engagement and channel optimization techniques, and one of the four channels is featured on the YouTube homepage and across our social networks. In past months, featured partners like JoshSundquist, CuteGirlsHairstyles, and strskillschool have seen growth in their fan base and video engagement thanks to your support.

This month, we’re taking a brief hiatus from asking you to vote on emerging YouTube talent while the On The Rise program undergoes a bit of a face lift. We’ll be back in 2013, but in the meantime, we wanted to give YOU - the fans and viewers - more of a say about which channels really are on the rise.

We’re excited to announce that you can now nominate a YouTube partner to be considered for the “On The Rise” program. Feel free to submit nominations for your own channel, or for channels you follow that you think deserve more attention or could be the next YouTube sensation. We’ll continue to feature promising partners who have fewer than 100,000 subscribers and produce engaging content on a regular basis.

As always, thanks for participating and helping some of YouTube’s promising content creators grow their fan base!
